Expectations & Programming
Expectations
- Attend two out of the three semesterly workshops.
- Meet with the Office of Undergraduate Education once per semester.
- Enroll in peer-led team learning or supplemental instruction, when applicable.
- Engage in at least one academic enrichment experience sponsored by the Undergraduate Success Scholars (USS) program.
Success Planning
- Academic Resources — USS participants receive direct referrals to campus resources that support achievement of personal and academic goals.
- Meeting with Program Team — The USS team personalizes the academic planning process by meeting with all participants individually.
- Schedule to meet with a program team member through Genbook (the online scheduler).
- Online Goal Setting — USS workshops and online eLearning platform provide participants an opportunity to strategically outline their undergraduate experience through an online, goal-setting process.
Workshops and Enrichment Activities
- Networking — Events like the Welcome Back Reception allow participants to build social and academic support teams that consist of academic leaders and staff from across campus.
- Saturday Sessions — The USS program provides monthly workshops to address the financial, academic and personal needs of students.
- Register for two out of the three workshops offered.
- Cultural Opportunities — Whether it is a night at the opera or a trip to the symphony together, USS exposes participants to rich cultural experiences in the DFW area.
Family Mentorship Initiative
- Mentor Liaison — Mentor Liaisons are student-centric staff, faculty and community partners who provide mentorship and success coaching to student leaders who serve as mentors.
- Student Leader Mentor — Student Leader Mentors or Family Leaders are high performing peer leaders who serve as mentors to participants in the Family Leader Mentorship Initiative.
- Peer Participants — Peer participants or USS families are small groups of students with similar interests who receive mentorship and an insider’s perspective on a variety of topics, like how to strategically select extracurricular activities and acclimate to a competitive university environment, from their Family Leader.
Leadership Planning Boards (LPB)
- Service Leadership Planning Board — Service LPB members plan exclusive volunteer events both on and off campus for students who want to serve UT Dallas and the surrounding community.
- Academic Leadership Planning Board — Academic LPB members plan academic-centric events that utilize campus and off-campus resources to encourage members to support each other academically and engage in learning experiences outside of the classroom.
- Social Leadership Planning Board — Social LPB members plan fun, memorable student experiences that will increase participants’ connection to the campus and their peers.
